How to get here...

Malaga Airport

On arrival head for Baggage Reclaim Hall, at far end of hall turn right down ramp to the car hire desks on lower level. (Avis Europcar Hertz etc.)

For the local rental companies, go through the door at the end of the hall, your car hire agent will be there (along with a couple of dozen others) he/she will have a board with your name on it.

Remember your Driving Licence, (if you have a plastic licence, remember to take the paper section) you will also need your Credit Card (they don't accept cash) and reservation document, if you have one.

Car park/rental car area is being redeveloped at the moment so the car collection can be anywhere!

Directions to La Orquidea

In car park look for Salida (Exit) signs.

Exit car park and follow signs for Malaga / Cadiz

At the end of the airport area you will come to a roundabout go straight across roundabout (second exit) towards Malaga/Cadiz N340 .

You will find San Miguel brewery on your right hand side. (Keep to right hand lane) turn right at the end of San Miguel brewery, you are on a slip road, filter in to the Dual Carriageway.

(Signed for Torromolinos/Cadiz N340)

Carry on along this road for about 2.5Kms (1.5mls.) you will pass car dealerships on the right and Ikea on the left.

Stay in right hand lane, turning right on to the motorway towards ALGECIRUS/MARBELLA/ FUENGIROLA.

When you join the Motorway you are in your own lane so no need to worry about filtering in.

Now that you are on motorway (mountains on right/sea on left). Nothing more to do for the next 16Kms. (9.5mls)

You will have a long climb uphill past the Repsol filling station on the right and underneath a cable car running from mountains across motorway.

(Shortly after the road starts to descend from the side of the mountain, it splits into two the coast road and the toll road, If this is your first time here take the toll road it is much easier.)

It is important as you approach the split you stay on the centre or left hand lane, you need to bare left to go on to the toll (Peaje) road.

(At this point cars will be passing you on both sides don't worry it's Spain !)

You are now the toll road, it will be much less busy now, enjoy the drive.

After about 13Kms. (8mls) from the split you will reach the turn off for CALAHONDA. Stay in right hand lane and bear right off motorway.

Follow road down to tollbooth, (It is usually the booth on the left that is open) The cost 2>4 Euros depending on the time of year. (Take a 5 Euro note!)

After tollbooth, you reach a roundabout. Take 2nd exit right towards 'Siteo de Calahonda'.

Follow the winding road down past 'Club Del Sol' on left hand side, then round a long up hill bend up to a T junction at top of hill.

You will see a tunnel on your right hand side at T junction. Turn left here and proceed past the houses on your left to next T junction .

Turn left here. (Take care this is an awkward opening) The entrance to the car park is about 30mts down hill on your left, (Casa Alba is the second villa in on your right) carry on past the car park opening for a further 60mts and turn left into the main car park, La Orquidea reception is the first building on your right.

After collecting the keys at reception return to the car park for Casa Alba, you can park on road outside, or the car park to the rear of the villa, or outside reception. (We prefer to park beside the electric sub station at the rear).
